Longboard Surf Coaching

Experience surfing's most graceful art form. Expert ISA-certified longboard instruction in the perfect waves of Taghazout & Tamraght.

The Art of Longboarding

Why Longboard in Morocco?

Longboarding is the original surfing — a flowing, graceful dance between surfer and wave that dates back to the very roots of the sport in Polynesia. Morocco's Atlantic coast, with its long, peeling point breaks at Taghazout Bay, Panoramas, and Hash Point, offers near-perfect conditions for the craft year-round.

At Surf Coaching Morocco, our longboard coaching program is led by a dedicated team of ISA-certified instructors who live and breathe this style of surfing. Whether you're stepping onto a board for the first time or working toward your first hang ten, we have a structured program tailored to your level and goals.

We provide high-quality longboards and logs for every session — from beginner-friendly foam-decked 9'6" boards to classic single-fin logs for the more experienced rider. All you need to bring is enthusiasm.

Why Choose Longboarding?

Longboarding isn't just a surfing style — it's a philosophy. Here's why so many surfers fall in love with the log.

More Waves, More Smiles

Longboards paddle faster and catch waves earlier than shortboards — meaning more rides per session and a steeper learning curve for beginners.

Classic Style & Elegance

Longboarding is the original form of surfing. The flowing footwork, graceful nose rides, and connection with the wave represent surfing at its most pure and beautiful.

Ideal for All Ages

Unlike shortboarding, longboarding is accessible to every age and fitness level. Children, seniors, and everyone in between can progress quickly and enjoy every session.

Year-Round in Taghazout

The mellow point breaks around Taghazout and Panoramas are perfectly shaped for longboards — and they work in the smaller summer swells when shortboards sit on the sand.

Frequently asked questions

Do i need to have surfed before to join the longboard program?

Not at all. Our Longboard Foundations program is specifically designed for complete beginners. Longboards are actually the most beginner-friendly type of surfboard — their size and volume make paddling easier, catching waves simpler, and staying balanced more achievable. Many guests find longboarding significantly easier to pick up than shortboarding.

What boards do you use for coaching?

We provide a range of boards matched to each program and level. Beginners use large foam-decked longboards (9'0"–9'6") with plenty of volume and stability. Intermediate and advanced students progress to classic fibreglass single-fin logs (9'0"–10'0") that respond to cross-stepping and noseriding. All boards are in excellent condition and matched to surfer weight and ability

I already surf shortboards. Can I switch to longboard coaching?

Absolutely — and we highly recommend it. Many of our most enthusiastic longboard students come from a shortboard background. The transition requires unlearning some habits (longboarding rewards patience over aggression), and our Classic Style Progression program is perfectly designed for exactly this transition. Youssef, in particular, has guided many shortboarders into longboarding.

What does ISA certification mean?

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is the world governing body for surfing, recognised by the International Olympic Committee. ISA certification is the global benchmark for surf instruction — coaches must pass theory and practical assessments covering surf safety, first aid, coaching methodology, and ocean awareness. All of our longboard coaches hold active ISA certifications.

Can I combine longboard coaching with a surf camp stay?

Yes — and this is actually our most popular option. We can build a fully custom longboard surf camp week that combines your choice of accommodation (private room, semi-private, dorm, or luxury villa) with your preferred longboard program. Contact us and we'll design the perfect itinerary for your stay, budget, and goals.

Are women-only longboard sessions available?

Yes. Miss Surfista runs women-only longboard sessions on request — a popular choice for solo female travelers, groups of friends, and anyone who prefers a female-led coaching environment. These are available across all program levels and can be arranged as group, semi-private, or private sessions.
